My dad has exactly that same Fisher and Paykel fridge at his house. It's very noisy. There's a noisy fan that seems to run at different speeds depending other the cooling needs. The fridge has nice front finish and it's painted stainless-look on the sides (rather than black) so it looks good for a small freestanding fridge; but it's not a quality fridge. I bought it for my dad because of the look but it was a mistake. I'm sure that the similar Samsung fridge (with bottom freezer) is a better machine.

I've never seen a Fisher & Paykel fridge at Home Depot or Lowes. I go there frequently as I manage some properties. HD Expo might have them, but I've not checked.

Is there any proof that people are actually paying over $1M for Aria units? If so, I pity the fools.

my aria unit has a fisher and paykel fridge and drawer dishwashers. the rest (flat glass stove top, oven, convection oven) are ge profile.

i haven't noticed any noise from the fridge and the dishwasher is dead silent. i have to put my ear against it to even know if it's running.

i have no complaints with the appliances. and the faucets and fixtures are great, too.

Scott, my experience is that the Fisher & Paykel fridge is generally quiet. But... when the compressor has to run at full strength, it's pretty noisy. Once you notice the noise, you'll know it. I think it's a pretty sophisticated machine that will run at different speeds as needed. If will also beep at you if you leave the door open. It's a nice compact looking machine.

I've been to Alta where they have the same fridge and I noticed the noise. Maybe I'm a too sensitive. But that's a small think that be remedied easily. If I owned a unit, I would put in a built-in fridge (I expect built-in in a "luxury" condo).

Damn that cethis sure knows a lot about Aria? Must spend a heckuva lotta time there? That being said, it is the nicest I saw on my brief visit a coupla weeks back, and if it weren't for the future I just might get me one. But the immediate future of San Diego real estate looks bleak, I'm afraid. Maybe I'll get me one next year when the lesser buildings have beaten the better ones into submission.

Yes that cethis also knows that Aria has 187 units.   Even that information is not disclosed on their website.
According the County, only 45 out of 187 have closed to date, still very far off the 50% previously claimed.

Here's a link to

I actually went to see the Fisher & Paykel at Home Depot, Lowes, and Home Depo Expo, and Fisher & Paykel was strongly recommended.

As I said before, I go to Home Depot and Lowes about once per month, and I've never seen the Fisher & Paykel brand there.  Someone please correct me if you know of a store that carries the brand.

A check of the Home Depot
website
also shows no such brand.

HD Expo does sell the brand.

Well to respond to the recent quotes: There are no units in ARIA under 380K.

There once was a time where one could purchase below the 380K mark, but that time is gone.

Cethis,

What is your opinion of the Aria sales staff? Which sales person is the best with which to work?

Did you ever close on a unit? I'm considering buying at Aria, considering they aren't making any more land, especially on Cortez Hil.

You'd be better off at Discovery...go check out the community areas in both, including the pool (a windy, shaded afterthought at Aria and a gorgeous 10th floor patio at Discovery), the parking areas (tandem if you even get two at Aria, no tandem at Discovery), no halfway house under your window at Discovery ('nuff said....although the cars w/o tires on blocks in the parking lot are a cute touch), better staff, more established building, etc.

But that's simply an opinion...check them out for yourself.

I would steer clear from discovery, it is a jungle in there. I also here there are water pressure issues.

Cethis,

As an independent observer, I'm sure you'll agree that Alta (another wonderful community brought to you by the same developer as Aria) is the best place to live in the Gaslamp, wouldn't you?
