Subject: Closing costs - Seller's responsbility?

Working through a few offers on my place and I am being advised to pay the seller's closing costs as that has become typical in SoCal. Also, in a tight market many sellers are including closing costs to sell properties.

Is this really typical? Am I sabotaging a potential deal by sticking to my guns and refusing to pay closing costs? I told my Realtor that the agents can pitch in to cover those costs to close the deal. I don't see why I should have to pay $5k to help someone buy my place.

Any advice is appreciated.

I've seen a few places that close for a little more than last list, so now I know why.

It's all about your bargaining position and how strong or weak it is. Use what leverage you have (if you have any).

If your in a popular area and got lots of bids then I would not offer.like others said though see if the agents will kick back some money..
if they want the deal bad enough they may offer to split it.

I have a few times payed closing cost if I am getting a lowball price on a home. It is part of the negotiating in your offers.
