Did you know Gov. Palin and her husband have stated they hate the United States and were in support of a movement to secede?

Why does Sarah Palin hate America so much that she called for Alaska to secede?

We know almost nothing about her in the areas one would normally use to evaluate a candidate for the presidency or the vice-presidency. And they are trying to assure that it stays that way by keeping her off the usual TV interview programs. We know she can read a speech written for her by Republican campaign operatives after being rehearsed on it for three days.

Do any of her "supporters" actually believe she would have been seen as a credible candidate if she had participated in her party's primaries as Obama, McCain, Biden, and countless others have done? Both the private vetting (McCain's staff had almost no notice she was being considered by their "maverick" boss) and the public vetting (through primary debates, speeches, and interviews) are woefully inadequate. A pig-in-a-poke with lipstick is still a pig-in-a-poke. Even if I liked McCain for president (which I do not, at least not the sell-out McCain we see in 2008) I would not trust so much in his good health as to want this totally-unprepared phenom to be vice-president.

Oh, my God, I'm in agreement with the the real estate bull, disguised as a sleepy bear. ;-)

But don't count on me to support a reconstitution of Fannie and Freddie. I'm with the Cato Institute on this. They are corrupt and should be dissolved.

Hello 1608--In your "black-and-white, with-me-or-against-me" world, I guess anyone who disagrees with your dogmatic, superior approach must sound like a RE "bull." If you look back through the message threads, I think you will find no evidence that I have expressed a "bullish" attitude toward SD RE. I am an agnostic on the issue. I don't know if or when median (or mean) prices will "bottom." I don't think I have ever offered "advice" as to what anyone else should do regarding a purchase or sale. But I can see the flaws in much of what you post--often misleading and often unfounded--about how a particular property or occurrence demonstrates a point you are trying to make. I am glad with what I bought, when I bought it, and where it is located, and that seems to bug the hell out of you!

"Why does Sarah Palin hate America so much that she called for Alaska to secede? " It sounds like a smart move to me. Alaska makes money and can support itself so why be taken down by a Spend, Spend Government?

Sleepy, you might find my observations misleading and unfounded if you ONLY look the market as it is on any one particular day.

However, my calls have been right-on if you look a little bit ahead and anticipate the future.

Like they say, it's all about judgment and the ability to anticipate the future. Like in Iraq, it doesn't matter if you win the war and win the battle. If it ends up costing you a fortune, then you've lost.

A buyer might win a great deal on a house compared to the current inventory today, but as prices continue to slide, that deal can turn to a nightmare. The alternative is to rent a beautiful house, bank the savings and come out with nice wad of cash.

Wouldn't you say that this house at Liberty Station was a big loss for the seller after 5 years? What would you assess the "enjoyment" he had living there vs. the "enjoyment" he had selling it.

Sleepy, if you were so confident about your recent purchase, you wouldn't be here defending your decision. You sound like a teenager defending yourself.

My European friends tell me this about Americans "You guys are the richest, strongest, greatest and you love reminding yourself of that. God has to bless you at every speech; and you get bent of our shape when someone criticizes you. If you're so good then nobody can touch you. You should be supremely confident and not have a care in the world. But instead you sound like teenagers worried about your acne pimples."

Artist, Alaska hardly supports itself, instead it has the highest per-capita Federal "pork-barrel" spending, see USA Today "Alaska 1st, Ariz. last in pork spending "

1610--It must be embarrassing for you to be so opinionated and so wrong. Where did you get the idea I bought recently? We bought our SD house about 8 years ago. Where did you get the idea that I am defending it? My point was that I am not into the bear/bull debate because I am not in the market--I already have what I want, after living in homes in several other cities over a period of more than 40 years. Where did you get the idea that I am a RE bear? It isn't from anything I wrote. Your inability to "hear" what people are saying over the noise of your own "voice" casts doubt on your contributions here. I have no idea whether you are mostly right or mostly wrong about the direction of prices. And I don't personally care, but I hope people seeking advice are not taken in by your opinions.

What are we supposed to care about on SDlookup, if we don't care about prices of real estate?

If you have some good suggestion for topics of discussion, please feel free to share. What about the size of Palin's boobs?

16xx--I can't tell if your last post was directed at me--it has nothing to do with what I wrote. Focus--try to address my questions, that is, if you want to converse rather than lecture.

sleepybear - "I am not in the market--I already have what I want".

I am curious - what are you doing chatting on sdlookup blogs, then? Maybe a gardening, photography, surfing, politics or ??? site would be more appropriate? Please don't interpret my comment negatively - you have very thoughtful, analytical posts that I appreciate. I am just wondering why you bother posting at all if you are not intrerested in the sd real estate market? Sorry if I am being too obtuse.

The federal government owns most of lands throughout the state. The state comes in second. Private/native corporation ownership a distant last place.
Did you know that every Alaskan who has been in the state a minumum of a year gets a yearly check from the state? This sept/oct yearly checks will be $3200 for every man, woman, and child.

Wilson, yes, I know. That why my cousin and husband moved there back when her husband left the military. They have no reason to move, but they do like to travel to warmer climates.

I wonder what the minimum residency requirement is in Alaska. Perhaps it would be good to retire there and keep a second home in a warmer climate. One would use the tax rebate to take a cruise down to California every year.

You people are nuts. I am on terminal leave from the US military . I put all kinds of young kids in the military asking" Will I get to go to Iraq?" (Been there twice myself.) Wanting to fight for our freedom. I couldn't take it anymore. They all drank the koolaid.

I am retiring after 22 years of sevice.

READ MY LIPS : There were no weapons of mass distruction! We were FREE before we went there, and we are STILL FREE!

You want another religious nut job in there......one who can't even control her own child's sexual promiscuity.....one who doesn't even support her own government......but NOW wants to be 2nd in command?!!? Are you insane?

This thread is off topic, there are plenty of threads for realestate............find one if that's what you want to blog about.

I think we should call this sleepybear vs Brian (or the poster formerly known as 1608, 1610, or 16XX). :)

---

(long run on sentence...) Palin is an anti-choice, pro-gun, anti-government (except when she's running it), anti-environment, pro-drilling, anti-any religion except Protestantism (keep that in mind Catholics, Buddhists, Jews, Muslims, etc), thinks that global warming isn't caused by man (doesn't necessarily agree that global warming exists), anti-gay, anti-sexual education (minus abstinence-only education), female clone of Bush. I'm sure a lot of San Diegans would love her :-). So that's about all I know so far based on what I've read about her on various news websites (CNN, Fox, WSJ, NY Times, etc).
