Posted By n/a on 10/01/2007 10:23 PM So no need to worry about me folks. I'm doing fine with my $370,000 condo in North Park and have the confidence to know that in due time it will be worth at least in the mid to high $400,000's if not more.
Here's for you newbie. I think that by now, even the low-income subsidized units are well under water, especially considering that they are upside restricted. #527 now listed at $299,000 to $349,000 3950_Ohio_527_San_Diego_CA_92104 #412 at $236/sf. http://www.sdlookup.com/MLS-086033854-3957_30th_St_412_San_Diego_Ca_92104 |

San Diego is a lot like Mexico in a way... no real middle class: either you're living nice in north county, or you're a broke ass person somewhere else;
what? |

| "I <3 North park" Where do you fall in your assessment? Are you the wealthy living in North County?? I dont think you can compare NP and North County. They are completely different and obviously it will attract different types of people. Its like comparing your standard neighborhood with living in Downtown. |

| Culturally North County is a pesticide-laden wasteland. North Park is unique to San Diego neighborhoods with its mix of arts, culture, diverse population, restaurants, bars, pedestrian activity. It may not be the prettiest place -- but truly interesting places rarely are picture-perfect pretty. |

| North Park does suck. No matter what you NP'ers say, NP is still just a place for semi-employed wanna-be's (losers in the real world). This post acts like NP is Melrose or Bevrly Blvd in LA or something... it's not, and it's not even close. San Diego is a lot like Mexico in a way... no real middle class: either you're living nice in north county, or you're a broke ass person somewhere else; NP being one of the somewhere else-es. Read these posts... you're arguing about the merits of 1000-1500sf APARTMENTS!! I know leaglly they're condos, but real condos should nicer than comparable homes in the neighborhood (without the yard). |

what's doing: Kate Ross Shoes/Kalos Designs The North Park shopping scene just keeps getting better, with the addition of Kate Ross Shoes and Kalos Designs now open. Located at 3827 30th Street, between Bar Pink Elephant and Urban Solace restaurant and across the street from the trendy new La Boheme condos, the new space is sleek and modern, mixing furniture (sectional couches, lounge chairs, tables), art, housewares, gift items, and and a hip selection of shoes (including Ben Sherman), all for sale. The space itself features 2-story high ceilings with exposed beams, and stained cement floors. They're still putting the finishing touches on the store, with plans to install tile on the exterior. Kate Ross and local North Park resident Amy Paul have done a wonderful job creating an elegant space to shop, and are a welcome addition to the neighborhood. |

| 2800 block of Adams Avenue isn't even North Park. Duh. It's 92116 area code. It's University Heights, or possibly Normal Heights, kinda in between them both. But any way you cut it, it ain't North Park. How pathetic that some are so bent on badmouthing North Park that they grasp for a crime from another neighborhood and claim it took place in North Park. Of course crimes do take place in North Park, but then again they take place in lots of neighborhoods, from the Gaslamp to Bankers Hill to PB and La Jolla. But do some research before saying a crime was committed somewhere you don't even have a clue about. |

| One cannot have it both ways. If corporate establishments were to move into Nortpark, then its Bohemian charms will be lost. Geez, I thought NP was great because it is quirky. If one were to live close to Barnes and Noble and other corporate establishments, then there are plenty of other cleaner and more "sterile" places for such. |

Sounds like the words of someone who's upset that their s**t smells, their neighborhood sucks and their kids are dumb. Sorry your life is such a mess dude. Hopefully part of coming to terms with all that will be finding a way to make it better. |

"Just wait a bit longer before it will get booted out for some other big chain and corporate establishments." Let's see, if that does happen -- if places like Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Baskin Robbins, Borders, Barnes & Noble, Jamba Juice, etc. begin following the many Starbucks into North Park -- well, typically that eventually means a rise in property values. |

| North Park also has a couple good New Age bookstores and a large religious bookstore. And rumor on the street is that either Border's or Barnes & Noble is cosnidering opening a satellite (i.e. smaller than normal) location somewhere on University between 30th & the 805. |

Oh yes, that store right next to Wamu....Just wait a bit longer before it will get booted out for some other big chain and corporate establishments. I suspect that Anon 9:17 is our good Newbie. Since there are Financial Times and International Tribune there, would you be so kind and report back to us what they say about the US politics, economy. The Washington Post is great but it is better to have some other perspectives every now and then.

"I suspect that that Financial Times and the International Tribune is something that you do not get in Norhtpark; and that is just how cool NorthPark is." What a hillariously ignorant statement. Terd-for-brains obviously doesn't know that North Park is home to a magazine store that carries one of the most extensive collections of newspapers and magazines from all around the world of any place in San Diego County -- right on 30th Street, right below ... La Boheme. Haha what a fool. |

If you want to use the newspapers/magazines to back up your claim, there are plenty of other newspapers/magazines that say otherwise. Check out some of the recent articles in the Economist or the Financial Times. If they are saying the same thing as the Washington Post, I like to know. I think you are living in a bubble. If you were to read the Economist, Financial Times and the International Tribune, the picture about the economy (esp with the subprime and the housing market) they painted is pretty bad. I suspect that that Financial Times and the International Tribune is something that you do not get in Norhtpark; and that is just how cool NorthPark is.
Why do you care about the "unfair" attack of your neighborhood. It is what it is. So you are saying that if we convince ourselves that Northpark is so great, then it will be. Funny. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well. |

| Anon, wonder why my comments strike such a nerve in you. Maybe because you know they're right? If you really read them then you'd know they are only in response to what I perceive to be unfair attacks or denigrations of my neighborhood. They are not just because I like to see my words in print. Happy Thanksgiving! |
